PORTLAND, Ore. – April 23, 2015 – Portland law firm Bodyfelt Mount LLP announced today that Vicki M. Smith, a trial attorney and partner with the firm, has become a member of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel (FDCC).
Founded in 1936, the FDCC is an invitation-only organization for U.S. and international civil defense litigators, senior corporate counsel and insurance claims executives.
FDCC members are leaders in many of the country’s top corporations and insurance companies. The group counts among its membership lawyers who are national coordinating counsel and trial counsel for nearly all national insurance carriers and Fortune 500 companies.
A limit is placed upon the number of lawyers in private practice who can participate. Smith was invited to join the FDCC after being nominated and undergoing a rigorous peer review. To be considered for membership, nominees must be of high professional standing, demonstrate good moral character and devote a substantial amount of their professional time to the defense of civil litigation.
Smith joined Bodyfelt Mount in 2002, and became a partner with the firm in 2009. Her law practice focuses on general civil litigation and insurance coverage matters in Oregon and Washington. Smith regularly handles cases involving insurance and surety bond coverage, construction defect, asbestos and professional liability claims. She also tries cases involving claims of personal injury, contractual indemnity, product liability and commercial breach of contract.
