As a means of bringing the “transformation” element of our mission into reality, OWLS bestows several awards throughout the year.
The Roberts and Deiz Award(s). Starting in 2018, OWLS restructured the Justice Betty Roberts Award and the Judge Mercedes Deiz Award into one* award(s) recognizing one or more individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to promoting women and minorities in the legal profession. *The award may given to multiple people in a year.
The Justice Betty Roberts Award recognized an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to promoting women in the legal profession and in the community.
The Judge Mercedes Deiz Award recognized an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to promoting minorities in the legal profession and in the community.
The Katherine H. O’Neil Volunteer Service Award is given to an OWLS member who epitomizes steadfast dedication and long-term volunteer service to promote women in the legal profession.
2025 marks the inaugural Linda Tomassi Distinguished Service Award. The namesake award will be given to Linda Tomassi, whose legacy will inspire future service to OWLS, and a reflection of the immense impact she has made, and the deep respect she has earned from all of us.
