On February 25, 2016, Ms. Jolie A. Russo will be appointed as a United States Magistrate Judge in Eugene, Oregon. Her appointment follows the retirement of the Honorable Thomas M. Coffin. Ms. Russo served as a Staff Attorney and Senior Staff Attorney for the District of Oregon from 1988 to present. Since 2004, she has been an Assistant Professor, Adjunct Faculty, for both the University of Oregon School of Law and Lewis and Clark Law School. Ms. Russo served 10 years as a Citizen Review Board Panel Chairperson for the Oregon Supreme Court. She is an active member of the U.S. District Court, District of Oregon, Local Rules Advisory Committee; the Federal Criminal Procedure and Practice Committee; and the Federal Bar Association, serving as the Immediate Past President (2014-2015); President (2013-2014); President Elect (2012-2013); Vice President (2011-2012); Secretary (2010-2011); and Director (2008-2010). She served on the OWLS board from 1991 to 1993.
On March 1, 2016, the Honorable Youlee Yim You will be appointed as a United States Magistrate Judge in Portland, Oregon. Her appointment follows the retirement of the Honorable Janice M. Stewart. Judge You is a Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge, a position she has held since 2007. She previously served as a Senior Assistant Attorney General for the Oregon Department of Justice, Trial and Appellate Divisions from 2004 to 2007; a Death Penalty Staff Attorney for the United States District Court for the Central District of California from 1999 to 2004; a Deputy Bureau Chief/Senior Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn, New York from 1994 to 1997; an Assistant Attorney General for the Oregon Department of Justice from 1992 to 1994; and, earlier in her career, as a Staff Attorney for the Metropolitan Public Defender in Portland, Oregon. She served on the OWLS board from 2009 until 2015.
