Effective Allyship: A Transgender Take on Intersectionality | Ashlee Marie Preston | TEDxPasadena, 2018
Host, commentator, and activist, Ashlee Marie Preston teaches that when we talk over people, ignore them or shut them down, what we’re really saying is, “I’m more important than you are … I don’t really care what you think, I don’t have time for your opinion, or, this isn’t a conversation. It’s a contest and I’m gonna win.” In this passionate and deeply heartfelt talk, Ashlee seeks to help promote understanding about intersectionality, allyship and an urgency for compassion.
OWLS Online is the result of the virtual chapter interest survey where OWLS members asked for a virtual event for networking with members of the OWLS community. In 2024, we will continue to hold lunch hour Zoom events with short programs and extra time for small group discussion, as follows: informal conversation between 11:45 and noon; Welcome, self-introductions and announcements beginning at 12:00; Short program at 12:15; Breakout room networking at 12:35; and Ending at 1:00.
OWLS Online is co-chaired by Lindsey Craven & Lori Hymowitz, as a sub-committee of the OWLS Transformation Committee. If you are interested in volunteering to host or coordinate an OWLS Online program, please contact Lindsey Craven, with “OWLS Online” in the subject line.
