Neurodiversity and disability are cutting edge issues for Oregon lawyers, as featured in the June issue of the OSB Bulletin. In that article, interviews with Judges Brown and Summer as well as practicing attorneys highlight the need for the legal community to make productive changes that allow all to flourish.
This presentation will sample ideas about disability identity, inclusion, and how the practice of law is evolving to be more welcoming for everyone. Leaders from Oregon Attorneys with Disabilities Association (OADA) will cover the evolution from reasonable accommodation to the promise of universal design. New lawyers will talk about the culture shift taking place among newer lawyers from stigma to disability identity.
Lawyers with and without disabilities are invited to attend and participate.
Please be mindful that safety and care for others is situational and to give yourself and others permission to withdraw or to focus on listening rather than sharing, as appropriate to the people, relationships, power dynamics, and place.
