Register today for the 2016 OWLS Rainmaking Mentoring Circle in Portland. There is no cost.
OWLS, Markowitz Herbold PC, Marger Johnson and Ball Janik are proud to sponsor the 2016 Rainmaking Mentoring Circle. This is a substantive program designed to help lawyers seeking to improve their rainmaking skills. There is no cost to participate except that of your commitment.
We are pleased to welcome our volunteer mentors for this year’s Rainmaking Mentoring Circle: They include Holly Johnston of Marger Johnson, Shannon Armstrong of Markowitz Herbold PC, and Heather Bowman of Bodyfelt Mount. Participants will be assigned one of these mentors. The mentors will then schedule three meetings for their respective groups between April and June.
In addition to your meetings with your assigned mentor, you will attend three “all-group” meetings featuring established rainmakers Chrys Martin from Davis Wright Tremaine, Chris Helmer from Miller Nash, and Brenda Baumgart from Stoel Rives.
We will begin with a kick-off lunch meeting on Wednesday, April 13 at Marger, Johnson, & McCollom from 12:00 – 1:30 pm. The kick-off session will be a large group format that includes all mentors and mentees. At the kick-off meeting, mentors and mentees will have a chance to meet each other, and the format and topics of the remaining sessions will be discussed.
After the kick-off meeting, we will have two additional all group meetings in May and June featuring topics relevant to rainmaking and career development. Topics will include networking, case selection, generating referrals, the value of extra-curricular commitments, marketing, business plans, finding a niche, and closing the deal with a client, to name a few.
