Save the Date April 6, May 4, June 1
First Wednesdays are the result of the virtual chapter interest survey where OWLS members asked for a virtual event for networking with members of the OWLS community. We will be holding lunch hour Zoom events every first Wednesday with short programs and extra time for small group discussion. Join for informal conversation between 11:45 and noon; Welcome, self-introductions and announcements beginning at 12:00; Short program at 12:15; Breakout room discussion at 12:35; and Ending at 1:00.
This is your opportunity to share ideas for OWLS programming
The OWLS Membership Committee has started a shared sign up sheet for OWLS members to sign up to host a breakout room and to add topic suggestions with links to a video, article, or speaker bio around a common theme for each date. Please view the schedule and share your topic ideas here.
This is your opportunity to hone leadership skills at an OWLS program
The 20 minute (or less) program is intentionally short, so there is plenty of time to meet other members in breakout rooms. We are asking OWLS members to sign up to host a breakout room, and we will provide a few prompts to facilitate discussion. There is no specific responsibility for breakout hosts, primarily do what you would at an in-person event as a table host to invite people to share a bit about themselves and their thoughts on the topic or related topics as the conversation naturally flows. Please volunteer to host a breakout room here.
This is your opportunity to volunteer to build great OWLS programs
If there is interest in formalizing a virtual chapter (and volunteers for the leadership team), then the format, leadership structure, and other details will be further developed to request official recognition by the OWLS Board. In the meantime, membership committee members and the OWLS office will facilitate the schedule.
If you are interested in volunteering to coordinate one of the monthly lunch programs or in volunteering to coordinate a monthly meeting with these programs on a different schedule due to a standing conflict at noon on First Wednesdays, please contact Mary Dougherty with “OWLS First Wednesdays” in the subject line about becoming an organizer.
